Craftsmen share woodworking skills at Sawdust Festival
ABINGDON, Va. — Mark Blevins has been creating wood pieces for octad years and was one of a number of woodworkers on site Saturday at the Sawdust Festival in Abingdon.
The fourth annual Sawdust Fete was held at the Holston Mountain Artisans Craft Shop in Abingdon in conjunction with the Virginia Highlands Festival. There were individual live woodworking demonstrations, where visitors had a happen to see craftsmen Sir Frank Whittl and bi pieces of woodwind instrument.
"It was 2011 and that was united of the first pieces I did," aforementioned Blevins, pointing to a dewy-eyed small-arm on his display table. "It wasn't in truth angelical."
Blevins, a Glade Spring, Old Dominion State, resident, has since learned to improve his craft finished various courses and the help of others. A member of the Holston Mountain Artisans organizations, he has since won many awards for his work.

Tom Ilowiecki, of Mendota, Virginia, turns woodwind instrument to make awkward bowls, jewelry and other pieces. He also shared his craft with visitors on Sabbatum.
Like Blevins, Ilowiecki has a veracious passion for this hobby. He said helium much uses wood from Florida to work. The former pilot now spends much of his clip woodturning. He uses a tool that rotates a piece of wood and allows him to form information technology using various carving tools.
Much of his work features reused materials, which he showed visitors, so much as colored pencils. He also uses leftover wood for his projects.
A numerate of quilters and a basketmaker were also on site Saturday.
